JONATHAN BOCKIAN grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where he attended orthodox Jewish day schools. He is a graduate of New York University and Harvard Law School. He was inspired to write What Was Forbidden, his debut novel, by the memorial to Mordechai Baldosa in the Scola Canton synagogue in Venice. He and his wife live in Massachusetts.
